I've discovered something sinful...a homemade bread bakery. I walked 4 miles with a couple of my friends yesterday and that's where we ended our walk. What doesn't make sense about that?Anyway, I brought Scott there today after our weekly lunch date. It's amazing. The name of the bakery...Great Harvest Bread Co.There are two locations in Charlotte - South Kings Dr. and the Shops at Piper Glen, right next to Trader Joe's and Starbuck's...can it get any better than that?
You walk in, only to be greeted with coffee and then samplings of any or all of the "Breads of the Day"...all 10 of them!
I purchased a loaf of their cinnamon chip bread yesterday. They promised that it made THE BEST french toast! I thought "I will freeze it and save it until Heather comes home and we will have it Thanksgiving morning". Well, it never saw the likes of my freezer, just our stomachs!
It dawned on me that you need carbohydrates for training and the best carbs are complex carbs from whole grain sources. Great Harvest prides themselves on the fact that they stone grind their wheat fresh right in the bakery so that all of the nutrients can be baked into the bread. The distinct advantage to their bread is complete whole grain nutrition
Bingo! I plan to stop by there before every workout. It sure didn't take a rocket scientist for me to figure that one out!!!!

Kim-
I love how you figure out a way to rationalize it...is there a way to rationalize eating two pieces of your chocolate Hershey cake? Hm, I need you to help me with that one!!!
You're too funny! It works for me, though. I love homemade whole grain breads.
