Amazing...

Isn't God amazing? I continue to be amazed as I see God answering prayers. I usually think of it in the ways He answers prayers for the big things. But it's the small things that really amaze me too. The fact that I wake every morning, that I can hear, I can see, I'm able to walk to the kitchen and pour a cup of coffee, spend my life with a man who obviously must really love me, and watch God work in the lives of our three precious children.
I am so undeserving of all that. And yet He chooses to give me another day. He graciously reminds me every day that I need to "die to self"...totally surrender myself to Him.
I learned that last year while we were living in Wilson. God led me, through much struggle, to lead a class of ladies in a study entitled The Power of a Praying Woman. I had no idea that it was me who would so need that class. The week that we studied Praying to Surrender Control of My Life to God was the same week that God confirmed that He was leading us to Charlotte. I was really fine with God's decision...until it became a reality. And through His love and mercy, He knew I would need that class. I learned (and I quote) that God wants us to surrender everything to Him and allow Him to direct and control our lives...the more we give Him control over every area of our lives, the more we will have an abundance of love, joy, peace, and freedom...that when God leads it may seem unreasonable and impossible...that when we choose to trust God even when we don't understand what He is doing, we will find Him faithful to meet our needs in every situation...AND that the idea of surrendering everything to God may frighten us at first, but obeying Him in spite of our fears can yield incredible results.
After much wrestling, I decided to yield instead of run. Leaving all of my comfort for 17 years, my dear friends, taking my kids from everything they knew...none of that mattered. Being obedient to God is what mattered.
And I'm amazed (again) to see what He's done. To see what God has done through our children has been amazing. To watch Him use Scott in an unbelievable way has been amazing. To see what He is doing in and through our church in Wilson has been absolutely amazing. Moving us to Charlotte to use us here in order to move a missionary couple from Mexico to serve full-time at Peace Church to reach the hispanic community...amazing!
God is amazing! He knows exactly what He is doing. He is in control of everything and we need to totally surrender to Him. What are you wrestling with today? Isn't it time to stop running and yield to His will? Let go and let God amaze you!
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths".
