The "swoop"...

In my blog dated August 2nd, I was wondering what it means to "swoop" your hair. Well, I've discovered that Caleb got his "look" from his dad. This is Scott in the 8th grade. Amazing how the hairstyles were the same. I'm sure I would have dated him back then if I had known him....what a hunk!!!

Sisters...

I was able to visit with my sisters this past weekend. What a rare occasion that is. I traveled to Goldsboro Thursday evening after watching Lindsay's volleyball and Caleb's soccer games. I stayed with my sister, Karen. My younger sister, Kristi, traveled from Virginia Beach. We had such a wonderful time. We went out to eat, shopped...ALOT (we were helping Karen furnish an apartment that she's moving to this weekend), we reminisced, laughed, cried, and laughed some more. Unfortunately, we forgot our cameras so I'm not able to post a recent picture. I did, fortunately, have one from around 1976 (I'm on the right...thanks, Mom, for the Holly Hobbie shirt). We plan to get together for Thanksgiving so I'll make sure to pack my camera.
This coming weekend I have more friends coming to visit. It sure has made the month of August fly by.
P.S. Heather is coming home October 2nd for her fall break :-)

Deja vu...

Webster defines this word as an impression of having seen or experienced something before.Well, that's exactly how I felt this morning. Did I not just take this same picture of Heather last year leaving for the first day of school as a senior? Well, now it's Lindsay's turn. School started back today. I've never liked the first day of school. It means summer is ending, chaotic schedules are back, to and from sports games, getting kids up early...
Okay, I'll admit...it's been a very emotional week for me. I guess I've been wondering why Heather hasn't walked through the door. Hasn't she been gone long enough? And now, Lindsay is entering her senior year. And Caleb is entering high school as a freshman. Where is time going?
I'll tell you where it's going. Every morning, I look in the mirror I can see time flying through gray hairs and wrinkles.
Oh well, a new day. I'm just so thankful to be a part of it.

Weekend with my peeps...

What a great weekend I had. Three of my best friends from Wilson came to visit me. We had such a wonderful time. We watched the olympics, went shopping, had coffee, and laughed...oh my, did we laugh!
It felt like I had never left Wilson. I've learned over the past year that with true friends, it doesn't matter how often you get to talk or see each other, that you can just pick up right where you left off. And what perfect timing, they planned this particular weekend to be here for me after having dropped Heather off at college. They were very proud of me for how well I was doing.
Tears were shed today after they left but I'm so grateful that God has blessed me with such great friends...in Wilson and here in Charlotte!

We're back....

Heather is now an official college freshman. We left on Tuesday to head to Liberty University and returned last night. We had a great time and it was something I've never experienced. As we walked into her dorm, two of her prayer leaders came right away to introduce themselves and help Scott unload the car. They answered questions and made sure we were okay before they left. We made several trips to Bed, Bath and Beyond and Target throughout the course of the two days, of course. We laughed so hard at times, my sides ached. Yesterday was spent picking up her books, getting her car registered, and then joining her for lunch at the cafeteria. That was another amazement...every day, lunch and dinner, all you can eat, and every kind of food you can imagine. I would be as big as a whale!
After we knew she was all settled, Scott had prayer for her and tears were shed...happy ones. The last thing the prayer leaders said to Scott as we left were "we will take such good care of her". How could I not be at peace with that? It was a wonderful experience and we are so excited for Heather.
