Now he waits....

Well, my baby will complete his driving tomorrow. Yes, he's behind the wheel of a car. So hard for me to believe! All that remains is the test and his 15th birthday this summer...

Angels in disguise...

Our house is "officially" on the market. "Officially" because it is now listed with a realtor. We have tried long enough to sell it on our own. We have found that in this economy we must do all that we can to enhance the sale. We have been so blessed with sweet friends and family who have run to the rescue. A friend in our Sunday School class built us a brand new counter top with pantry doors to replace the pityful looking shelves we "called" a pantry. Scott "mentioned" that we were going to look into ripping out the carpet in the living room/dining room and replacing it with hardwood floors. Next thing we know someone gave us hardwood floors that they had in their storage building.
Two weeks ago a sweet friend came over and "staged" our house. She moved furniture around and had us move some furniture out to give it a model home feel. I almost hate the thought of leaving here now...don't tell Scott I said that :-)
Last Thursday Scott took a half-day off to study and walks out in our yard to see an entire crew aerating, planting seed, shaping pine straw, etc. I could not believe it.
Finally, my sweet in-laws came this past weekend to visit. While here, Scott's dad worked hard replacing our fence, he painted doors, and Scott's mom cleaned out my oven. Yes, they are precious!
The house is now done and we'll just wait and see. Heather called me in to her room the other day and said "Mom, what if God doesn't want our house to sell" (she sees how hard we have been working and she doesn't care if it sells or not). After I pulled the knife out of my chest, I said "Heather, He may not...you are right. But in this economy, we have to do all we can to make it look just right". She says if God wants to sell it, He doesn't need it to look a certain way. What faith! Another humbling lesson for me...
We definitely want God's will in this. Our desire is to be in another school district since Caleb is going to public school but He just may want us here for a reason. We wait on Him and we trust in His decision...whatever that may be!
Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength...

Zumba...

Okay, the girls talked me in to taking a Zumba class at the Y. So we headed out last night. I was ready! It's a "dance" class...you know, the one where you do high impact aerobics to their kind of music. I was not going to be outdone. They had prepared me by telling me to go to the restroom before class because they knew I would laugh so hard...well, they just knew I'd need to go to the restroom first.
Let me tell you, there was no stopping me. I got those moves down. No girl of mine was going to out "dance" me. No sir. I never missed a beat. I was so proud of myself. I thought, I'll bet my girls are thinking "wow, our mom is so cool...look at her go". We had a great time.
As we left, I said "well, how did I do?" Their answer, "you did okay, Mom".
A big lesson in humility....

Day with Grandma...

Last Sunday morning I was able to go to Goldsboro to see my nephew in the production of Beauty and the Beast. This is his senior year and last production...for now! I was blown away at the talent of these kids. I would rank it right up there with the Disneyworld production I saw years ago. Andrew is my sister, Karen's son. He played the role of Beast. It was amazing and I'm so glad I was able to go. From there, my sister and I went to Virginia to visit with my grandma. What a highlight that was for me! We went over to her home and spent the entire day on Monday with her. The excitement on her face when we walked in and surprised her was worth the entire trip. We sat on her bed talking and laughing. Our sister, Kristi, was able to join us for several hours also. She's the one who taught me to cook, sew, and crochet...not that I do any of those now except cook! What a precious grandma she's been!

Journey 2009...

Our church is encouraging the congregation to read through the New Testament in 2009. Scott and I have chosen to do this together. It's been great for us to be able to read God's Word each morning before work. What's been even better is our prayer time together. This has made such an amazing difference in our marriage. It's also increased our prayer life for others. We take out our prayer cards each morning and pray over the needs of those who have asked us to pray.
What a privilege it is to read and pray with my husband each morning...it's a great way to start the day!
